Our Requirements For Memberships:

Teachers of all musical instruments (including voice) are accepted.
Click our "Find a Teacher" link to see existing members & their instruments taught.

All levels of teaching experience are welcome.
Even if this is going to be your first year of teaching you may still become a member. Teachers with many years of experience are also invited.

There are no specific grade requirements to have completed before you join.
If you are a grade 8 student with 4 of your own beginner students you are just as welcome as a teacher with an ARCT & 40 students.

There is no age restriction.
As long as you are teaching or have an interest in becoming a music teacher you may join our group.

Membership: $30/year due at the first meeting in September
(If you join after Feb. 1st fees are $15)

Your $30 annual membership fee provides:

*advertisements in the Gazette attracting new students to phone our teacher referral line to locate teachers from our group

*a brochure listing all SAPTA teachers which is placed in public places such as the Library & information centers (teacher list updated October 15 & April 15)

*advertising on the SAPTA website

*monthly meetings from September to June for music teachers to get together to inspire & motivate each other by sharing successes, exchanging ideas and brainstorming problem situations

*fellowship & support network from people sharing a common interest

*three workshops and/or master classes given by professional clinicians who we can learn from & be inspired by - at no extra charge (plus you have the opportunity to suggest clinicians you would like to see in the future)

*access to a variety of professional resources through our lending library including videos, books, music books & magazines

*the opportunity for you the teacher to perform at the monthly meetings

*the opportunity to make contacts in the music teaching profession

*many opportunities for your students including:
---yearly scholarships
---6 student recitals (great for festival & exam preparation)
---a city wide annual concert,
---participation in the Technique Olympics (involves playing scales, chords & arpeggios in a fun, mildly competitive team setting)
---opportunities to play in master classes
